my JVC Everio hard drive camcorder displays the HDD-ERROR message. The format, clean up and reset functions are non operational. Is there a way to recover the lost files and make the camcorder work?

Since its such a small, specialty hard drive, you have only two options for recovery: send it back to JVC for a fix or send it to a camcorder hard drive data recovery specialist. They have the special software and equipment to get the job done. There?s only one that I know of and that is Apex Technology in the UK.  They take the extra steps to protect and recover original data. Keep in mind this could take time and could be a little expensive.

 

It should also be noted that the recovery procedure normally marks the last chance of life for the hard drive. The repair procedure is merely to get the data off the device and marks the final resting place for the hard drive.
