All the audio in each broadcast episode sounds normal in the Final Cut Express project itself and after its imported into iDVD. The problem comes after they burn the DVDs. Their DVDs sound perfectly normal on most computers and in some DVD players. But in other DVD players, selected portions of the audio (specifically segments using an external mic) either get very low or drop out altogether. Why would they hear those segments perfectly fine when played back on some DVD players but not on others? Any ideas?

A few things could contribute to the issue:

- iDVD uses uncompressed audio (PCM -which is of a higher quality) enabling you to hear all of the imperfections recorded in the original audio. As the recording goes along it is trying to read the highest quality.

- Newer DVD players are made to read more audio tracks placed within a DVD

-Make sure you export the audio as a 16bit stereo AIFF at 48khz - though it should convert 44.1Khz files anyway.

- Have you tried inserting this audio into a new (or older) iDVD project? It could be the project that is corrupted or confusion with files remaining from a previous project. Check the projject files to ensure only the ones you need are in there.
